July 5-Feliz cuatro de Julio

13 Nov

Feliz cuatro de Julio familia.

Yesterday was just a P-day. We were in the Parade on the Church’s float. It was funny. We just had to wave to all the people who have rejected us. haha. jk, I only noticed the ones we have taught. It was fun, but kinda hot. After that, we just went shopping at Walmart and did laundry. The libraries were closed, so we didn’t get to email.

So, a lot has happened over the past week, and here’s what’s going on. Sis. Thomas got transferred to Tucson, so Sister Call is going to join Sister Vawdrey and I in a trio until the next transfer in two weeks. That means we are Spanish and English again and we have more to do. I am excited though, it will be really fun!

This past week was great, just teaching and finding people to teach. It is amazing to see the Lord’s hand in this, his work daily. We really only do such a small part of it. He has been preparing B—-, our investigator who is being baptized this weekend. B—– says that this all makes more sense than any church he’s ever been to, and that it all feels so right. He is very excited to be baptized and become part of God’s fold.

Also, our investigator F—– is amazing. He was scheduled to be baptized on the 30 of July, but he’s been progressing so quickly (is already trying to quit smoking and has given up coffee and tea) that we moved his date up a week to the 23. He is working very hard to keep the word of wisdom. When we taught it to him, he said, “I know that this is the source of all my health problems. That’s part of the reason you were sent to me.” He is wonderful. He came to church last Sunday and stayed all three hours, and LOVED it! He is pure gold! He is 64 and is “looking for a mate” so if you know anyone. . . haha. It will be wonderful to see continued changes in his life.

We are still working with P——–. We haven’t been able to see her for about 4 days because of the holiday, so we don’t know how prepared she is at this point for her baptism which is scheduled for Saturday. We are praying that the Lord will continue to work with her to prepare her and to guide her in the right direction. She has been reading in the Book of Mormon again which has really been helping her testimony and desires to be baptized. The Book of Mormon is so important to this work. I know it is truly God’s. That it is necessary to test the faith of Christ’s followers. And that the Holy Ghost will ALWAYS testify of its truth and divinity when people sincerely want to know. It’s like magic.

Today, we met our new mission president, President Killpack and his wife, Sister Killpack. They are REALLY nice. I felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that they are called of God to head this area of his vineyard. I know they will be diligent and humble servants. The Lord will qualify them and give them all that they need to progress his work here.

President Killpack served his mission in Deuseldorf, Germany. . . i don’t know how to spell that. but, that was cool. He and Sister Killpack are working on their Spanish. I’m really excited to work with them more.

I guess that’s about it for the week.

Oh yeah, we contacted this one guy at his house. He said that we’d better come back another time.

So, I said, “So, you want us to come back? Is there a time that works better than others?”

He said, “Yeah, uh, what year is it?”

I said, “2011.”

He said, “Yeah try back in 2019. I might be weak then.”

I said, “Ok, we’ll make a note of it.”

I just hope the second coming isn’t before then, or he might be in some trouble.

I am learning that this work is becoming very urgent in these, the last days. Even Sis. Killpack said that the apostles in the MTC were saying that they feel the Lord’s hand evermore present in these days because His work is becoming more and more urgent. It’s kinda exciting. We are so privileged to have a part of the most worthwhile work there is–saving souls. Some people just don’t know how important it is when we knock on their door or stop them in the street. We try to explain to them and hope the Holy Ghost will touch them to make them believe. But, I know now more than ever that this is God’s Church, that Christ leads it today and that it is urgent to be baptized and endure to the end, to receive all the blessings of the gospel starting today, and to last through the eternities.

The end.
